In September 2000 I started a job working with a former co-worker who couldn't believe I was still single and insisted I try Udate. I thought "What the heck?" and I told God that if I put out my ad, and it was meant to be, he should bring Mr. Right and I together.

I create my ad and ran a match. One of my top matches was Alex. I liked his ad, but he lived 2.5 hours away from me, his looks didn't really appeal to me (Alex had long hair and a goatee), and I hadn't bought a membership, so I couldn't initiate contact.

After a few weeks, and some interesting dates, I ran another match. Up pops Alex again, except he looks totally different. He'd cut his hair short and was clean shaven. I re-read his ad and added him to my "Friends" list (he was the only person I added to my Friends list). I figured he'd see I added him to my list and would contact me if he was interested. I kept checking to see when he'd log in next and it started to look like he'd abandoned the service. Then one day he contacts me explaining that he gave up on the service until they sent him a free one week Gold membership. He immediately asked me for my off service email address and we started emailing.

Funny thing is, we had ZERO email chemistry, so we didn't meet until December 9th when he came to Richmond for a seminar. We planned to meet Saturday evening at 7pm and I told my girlfriends I'd probably be done with my date 2 hours tops and go out with them. We ended up talking for 7 hours straight and we spent all our free time together after our 1st date. Alex moved to Richmond Feb. 2001 and asked me to marry him Feb. 27, 2002.

The rest is history... thank God.
